Gentle Tai Chi type exercise followed by Circle Dancing
Tai chi is a gentle, low-impact form of exercise in which practitioners perform a series of deliberate, flowing motions while focusing on deep, slow breaths
Circle Dancing is an ancient tradition, common to many cultures, and we were inspired by other countries when arranging our programmes. We have gathered our dances from various sources, After attending regularly at the Day of Dance at Saltaire, we have managed to arrange visiting instructors who have been really beneficial to us.
Because one of our dancers is a dab hand at choreography we have dances which are unique to our circle. We are always on the look-out for new members and new ideas, the bigger the circle the better. The beauty of this type of dancing is, of course, that you don't need a partner. Just come along and join us.
Anyone of any age, sex, or ability can circle dance and each dance is taught repeatedly!!
The main thing is that it is fun, it's good exercise and we have a good laugh. We get the steps wrong all the time so no one should feel intimidated if they have never done this type of dancing before.
Come along and see if you like it. I am sure you will love it as much as we do.
The exercise group will continue to meet throughout the summer on Monday mornings as usual.

The following poem, written by one of our members, is a good example of what we do.
Here we all are.
Doing Tai Chi
" Touching the Sky "
And "scooping the sea"
We all understand
That is all good exercise
For shoulders,neck, and knees
And even our eyes!
It's good for our bodies
It's great for the soul
There's a sense of well-being
That permeates all
We stretch and we balance
We should move as one.
But when it goes "Pear Shaped"
We laugh and have fun.
And all through the world.
Without any fuss
Tai Chi is occurring
And on Mondays it's us.
